It does have a smell when you first open the packaging, so I would let it air for a while before letting your baby use. I have been using for about 5 days now and I am happy with it. My baby was abit unsettled for the first night but this was due to a change in cot and position of his head, he has since got used to it and seems comfy throughout the night.
I am hopefull that it will help with his flat head. Posted by Laura Anderson on 19th Nov Not as good as Moses Moses sleepcurve was fantastic really helped baby's head and appeared to be very comfortable. However the cot bed matress doesn't appear to be as good material Also the curve for the head isn't as big as the Moses one which seems a bit silly as obviously the head will get bigger the bigger the baby gets.
Overall still wouldn't be without it as it really improved baby's flat head on one side as she has always had a favoured side. But feel this matress is overpriced considering the quality of material. Posted by Leanne Page on 22nd Jul Really makes a difference Our son was born with a cyst on his brain which in turn caused flat head. We were using the Mimos pillow which our son kept rolling off and it did make his ears stick out possibly due to the shape.
The mattress arrived next day delivery.
Product was immaculately packaged. If can suggest spending that bit more purchasing the sleep curve mattress you won't regret it.
Within two week we have noticed a massive difference in his head shape and his ears no longer stick out.
Amazing product and worth every penny. Posted by Unknown on 1st Jun Get into the groove! I bought the cot bed mattress for my six month old, who started sleeping in it last week.
In a rather comedy style, he managed to wriggle his full body and head into the groove in his first try! He sleeps properly in it when asleep but still manages to get into the groove when awake! I bought the mattress to address his moderately flat head at the back. One thing I have read elsewhere is whether the curve can make an impact in reshaping his whole, rather large, head. It is early days so we will have to wait and see.
Posted by Unknown on 22nd May So happy I discovered this mattress!!! I spent ages searching the internet for information on flat head syndrome as I had noticed that my 10 week old had significant flattening on one side as he prefers to look one way.
Excellent value mattress for occasional use — great for holidays, or to keep as a spare in case of little accidents! You might find attending one of NCT's Early Days groups helpful as they give you the opportunity to explore different approaches to important parenting issues with a qualified group leader and other new parents in your area.
Having mentioned my concerns to health visitor, I wasn't happy just to leave it alone and hope his hair will hide it when he's older-had tried everything to try to encourage him to look the other way etc. That's when I looked into mattresses and flat head syndrome anf came across the sleepcurve mattress and didn't hesitate in buying one.
My little one has slept on it for just under a month and I can honestly say that his little head is rounding out beautifully and he sleeps so well on it to; can't recommend this enough-was beginning to think I may have to go down the helmet treatment route to ccorrect but thanks to the sleepcurve mattress this won't be necessary. Posted by Unknown on 21st Oct Results for flat head seem to appear quite quickly Our son is 6 months old and was born with quite a misshapen head due to how he was lying inside.
How do you choose the best mattress for you and your baby? Equally, anything less than soft windows will present a potential for injury, or can restrict visual access.
He also had torticollis and therefore favoured sleeping on one side resulting in a flat head to one side. We bought the mattress to try and correct this and because there had been people whose babies slept through the night because of the mattress.
We have noticed, after a week and a bit, that his head is already changing shape. On the sleeping front it has made no difference whatsoever My only complaint is that the last position you use which we use now as he sleeps in a sleeping bag so no need for feet to foot is quite a way from the top of the cotbed - much further than where your head would normally be on a bed. This means that when he is older, we will have to revert to our old mattress so that he gets the full use out of the cotbed.
I would also like the sheets to be a bit softer if you HAVE to use them with the mattress.
I did try our original sheets but they don't 'dip' into the curve so i'm guessing they could be a suffocation hazard. Posted by Katherine on 24th Mar Cot bed bliss - suitable from newborn with promising results Our son Jim's already in a cot bed at 8 weeks as he was born with torticollis twisted neck and a plagiocephaly flat spot on the front of his head.
Upon seeing an osteopath sleepcurve was highly recommended. The website states a cotbed mattress is suitable from 9 months but Jim is already too long for the the shortest curve setting so the manufacturer may want to review this. It's easy to use, baby sleeps well and we're already seeing benefits to skull shape alongside osteopathy. Use with a sleeping bag for a newborn and it's ideal.
His temperature is regulated well and he seems happy and comfortable. I am happily recommending this mattress to friends and family.
Thank you for the review Heather. We have recently changed the information on the Cot Bed mattress page to say 'Our Cot Bed Mattress is suitable for babies who are too big to sleep comfortably in a crib or Moses basket' - which is what we should of said all along!
Great news that Jim is happy and comfortable on the SleepCurve mattress: Posted by Heather Mason on 7th Mar Making big difference! I first heard about the sleep curve mattress from my osteopath who was treating my 5 month old daughter who had a favourite side and no matter what I did she wouldn't move her head to the other way whilst sleeping.
I have to say that after a month of my daughter using it I have seen a big difference already and her face has evened out and she sleeps more on her back which she never did before.
I now have a few friends who will be buying one! I Had been very concerned and conscious of this and had tried numerous of repositioning techniques, plenty of tummy time, baby wearing and also purchased a pillow, however was unable to use at night due to risk of SIDs.
However i had not witnessed an improvement, since i have purchased the sleep curve i have already noticed an improvement and i am so happy that my babies head now seems to be rounding!
I can now relax when i put baby to bed at night as i know that for hours while he sleeps he is comfortable and the pressure at back of his head is reduced and evenly distributed.
As a nurse myself and as a mother i would highly recommended this product, excellent quality and fast delivery!! Thanks sleep curve Posted by Claire on 5th Jan Amazingly effective! I bought this mattress for my four month old baby boy who had developed a flattening to the left side of his head which other people had started to notice.
He had been a very unsettled baby from birth and had never slept for more than a couple of hours at a time. The first time he slept on this mattress he slept a whole six hours!! He seemed more comfortable, his breathing was calmer and he seemed more relaxed, what's more within days his head flattening started to resolve, after ten days it was visibly improved and after three weeks you could barely see a difference between the two sides!
Altogether I have a happier, calmer baby with a perfect head shape, would I recomend this product?
